Up for sale is a gorget that I made from food shell that was collected by the Manasota culture people here in Pinellas County Florida. This Lightning Whelk shell is 500 to 2500 years old. I like to use the shells that they personally handled to make my gorgets. I only use power tools to cut out the basic shape, the rest is done by hand with files and native artifact grinding stones that I found. The finish on the outside of the piece is done strictly using the grinding stones and burnishing stones they would have used.
